Event and online payment Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions set out the terms agreed between You (the “Delegate”) and the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (“ITI”) upon which a Delegate may attend the Event (defined below). Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully as they contain important information.

1)                   Definitions 

1.1                "Booking" means a booking made for You to attend the Event which is made made by You or for You by agreeing to purchase a ticket to the Event via the ITI website.

1.2                “Event” means the ITI ‘One day in… Gray’s Inn’ event to be held on 16 June 2018.

1.3                “Fee” means the total sum payable by You to ITI (via the ITI e-shop) for the ticket to attend the Event

1.4                “FIT Organisation Members” means members of the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs / International Federation of Translators and may also include members of other sister organisations as may be recognised by ITI from time to time at its total discretion

1.5                “ITI Website” means the website via which Bookings and payment for tickets for the Event can be made and with the domain name www.onedayin.iti.org.uk 

1.6                “Parties” means ITI on the one hand and the Delegate or Delegates on the other (together known as the “Parties”

1.7                “Payee” means the individual paying for the ticket to the Event

1.8                “VAT” means value added tax now chargeable for this Event under English Law pursuant to HMRC VAT Notice 741A Place of Supply of Services dated 9 August 2016.

2)                   Ticket Types

In addition to the above definitions, the following ticket types are available for the Event and shall have the following meanings and characteristics:

2.1                “ITI Member Ticket” means a ticket which can be purchased by ITI members after 20 February 2018.

2.2                “Non Member Ticket” means a ticket which can be purchased by non ITI Members and FIT Organisation Members.

3)            Tickets and Booking

3.1          Bookings for this Event are permitted up to and including 31 May 2018.

3.2          Tickets purchased before midnight on 1 May 2018 will be charged at the rate below:

·        ITI Member £89 (inc VAT);

·        Non Member £119 (inc VAT).

Tickets purchased after midnight on the 1 May will be charged at the rates below:

·        ITI Member £99 (inc VAT);

·        Non Member £129 (inc VAT).

3.3          By purchasing a ticket to the Event, you acknowledge the acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

3.4          Bookings for all ticket types for the Event can only be made via the ITI Website (www.onedayin.iti.org.uk).

3.5          ITI will try to assist with any special requests made by You for a facility or service in relation to the Event which is not advertised. However ITI shall not accept any Booking that is conditional upon such special requests being met.

3.6          Once purchased, tickets for the Event cannot be transferred to another attendee without the written permission of ITI.

4) Payment and VAT 

4.1          Payment in full for all ticket types purchased is required immediately in order to complete the Booking online.

4.2          All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT charged at 20%.  

5) Cancellations 

5.1          If You wish to cancel the Booking You shall notify ITI in writing prior to the Event date. The following cancellation fees are payable in relation to all ticket types, dependent on when the written notification of cancellation is received:

·                 Cancellation during and up to 31 March 2018: Refund of Fee less 50%.

·                 Cancellation during and up to 30 April 2018: Refund of Fee less 75%.

·                 Cancellation on or after 1 May 2018: No refund.

Cancellation fees are payable even in the event that ITI resells the cancelled attendance spaces after such cancellation by You.

5.2          In the event of non-attendance at the Event no refunds will be given.

5.3          ITI may (at its sole discretion) suspend the Event, change the date and/or venue for the Event for any reason.

If You are able to attend the revised Event, these Terms and Conditions shall continue to apply.

If You notify ITI in writing 28 days before the date of the revised Event that You do not wish to attend the re-arranged Event, ITI shall reimburse the Fee to You. ITI shall have no other liability to You in respect of the original or revised Event.

5.4          ITI may (at its sole discretion) cancel an Event at any time for any reason and shall in such event reimburse the Fee to You. ITI shall have no other liability to You in respect of the Event.

6) Data protection

All information that ITI hold regarding your booking will be held and processed strictly in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation May 2018. See our Privacy Policy.

7) Recorded material

Any and all photographs, videos, or other recorded media captured at the Event may be used by ITI for the purposes of marketing and advertising without any payment or compensation being offered and without any request being made to the featured parties. ITI shall retain the copyright in all photographs, footage and sound recordings produced by ITI at or in connection with the Event.

8) Exclusion of Liability

8.1          To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ITI excludes all liability for: 

(a) loss, injury or damage to persons (unless due to the negligence of ITI see 8.2) or property at the Event;

(b) reliance upon any indemnities, warranties, representations given (whether express or implied) unless contained within these Terms and Conditions; and

(c) any actual or alleged indirect loss or consequential loss howsoever arising suffered by You, or any loss of profits, anticipated profits, savings, loss of business revenue, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, or any other type of economic loss (whether direct or indirect).

If ITI is liable to You for any reason, ITI’s total liability under these Terms or otherwise in relation to the Event is limited to the amount of the Fee received by ITI.


8.2          Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or restrict either Party's liability for death or personal injury resulting from the negligence of that Party or its employees while acting in the course of their employment.

9) Force Majeure 

Neither party will be liable for performance delays nor for non-performance due to causes beyond its reasonable control, except for payment obligations.

10) Indemnity

10.1        You shall defend, indemnify and hold ITI harmless from and against all costs, claims, demands, proceedings, liability, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) whatsoever made against or incurred by ITI as a result of, related to or arising in connection with 

(i) a breach of these Terms by You, and/or

(ii) any acts or defaults by You in connection with the Event.

11) Accuracy of information

All information given in any literature produced by or on behalf of ITI is given in good faith and is intended as a guide to services /events available only and is subject to change without notice.

12) Lost property

Any non-perishable lost property found at the event will only be kept by ITI for up to 1 month before disposal.

13) Jurisdiction

The construction validity and performance of these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and the Parties hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.

ITI reserves the right to vary these Terms and Conditions from time to time. No notification will be sent in the event of such variations unless such variations shall be fundamental to the performance of the contract.
